Our Values
At HPA-OHT, we align our work with the Patient, Family, and Caregiver Declaration of Values for Ontario, a foundational document developed through extensive consultation with Ontarians. These values articulate the expectations patients, families, and caregivers have for the healthcare system and emphasize:
- Accountability: Open communication, integrity, and a system accountable to the experiences of patients, families, and caregivers.
- Empathy & Compassion: Care that is individualized, compassionate, and free from stigma or bias.
- Equity & Engagement: Equal access for all and meaningful inclusion in healthcare policy and program design.
- Respect & Dignity: Recognition of individual identity and rights, with patients and caregivers seen as valued members of the care team.
- Transparency: Full involvement in care decisions and access to accurate health records.
The Declaration serves as a compass for healthcare providers and organizations, ensuring a people-centered approach.
