We are delighted to introduce Derek Barnes, who has recently joined the Huron Perth and Area – Ontario Health Team (HPA-OHT) as our communications and engagement specialist. In his new role, Derek will be pivotal in shaping our communication strategies and ensuring our message aligns seamlessly with our vision and values.
Derek’s responsibilities include leading our communication efforts and closely collaborating with our leaders and stakeholders to foster successful engagement. He will provide strategic communication advice, coordinate with the HPA-OHT Secretariat team, and liaise with physician champions and patient/family/caregiver representatives.
Essential tasks Derek will undertake involve executing the HPA-OHT Communication Strategy, producing materials for our initiatives, and supporting our members. Additionally, he’ll be crafting blog posts, developing accessible graphics, and creating templates for reports and presentations. Derek’s expertise will also extend to managing our social media presence and evaluating the effectiveness of our communication tactics.
Derek is eager to connect with other communications staff within the network to share insights and collaborate on best practices, so don’t hesitate to reach out. His experience and skills will be an invaluable asset to HPA-OHT, and we encourage our leaders to contact him for support in their communication needs or to offer feedback and ideas.
