Why it Matters
Revitalizing the Huron Perth & Area Ontario Health Team (HPA-OHT) workforce is one of our key strategic priority areas. We are committed to building a strong, supported, and resilient workforce, including through shared well‑being strategies that help providers thrive.
A coordinated, cross‑sector wellness initiative directly supports this priority. By focusing on workforce well‑being, we strengthen the people who deliver care every day for our local communities. A healthier and more connected workforce is better able to provide the highest quality care across Huron Perth & Area.
Dig Deeper
The HPA-OHT is gathering early insights on a potential collective action wellness initiative that can be launched together across organizations. This may include a simple, engaging idea such as the Push Up Challenge led by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) or Walk the Block at 8:00. Activities like these promote connection, movement, and participation across teams.
We know that some organizations may already be pursuing similar wellness initiatives, or you may have ideas emerging that could be strengthened through a shared approach. The bottom line is that there is a strong need for a coordinated priority that unites our HPA-OHT sectors around one meaningful initiative.
By selecting one initiative to champion together, we can
- Increase our overall impact
- Reduce duplication
- Support each other’s efforts
- Foster a healthier regional workforce
Next Steps
To begin shaping this work, we are reaching out to our members and collaborating partners to gather ideas and perspectives.
- Please share your thoughts or examples of potential wellness initiatives with Matt Ward, matt.ward@hpaoht.ca by Tuesday, March 3. This is a great exercise to engage with your teams on, as their input matters to us as well.
- All input will be compiled and discussed at advisory councils and governance tables. As more details emerge, we will share them broadly.
Your expertise and perspectives are essential at this stage of the work. Thank you for helping us build a stronger and healthier workforce for our region.
