Celebrating Dr. Shanil Narayan’s Prestigious Award from the Canadian Association for Medical Education

With immense pride and enthusiasm, we announce a significant achievement within the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA). Dr. Shanil Narayan, a distinguished community member and a prominent physician lead at HPA-OHT, has been honoured with the prestigious Certificate of Merit from the Canadian Association for Medical Education.

This accolade, awarded to exceptional faculty dedicated to medical education in Canadian medical schools, is a testament to Dr. Narayan’s unwavering commitment and significant contributions to the field. As the Regional Academic Director at the Huron-Perth Academy for Distributed Education, part of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry – Western University, Dr. Narayan’s work in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) has been nothing short of extraordinary.

In his own words, Dr. Narayan acknowledges the collaborative effort in sustaining regional education initiatives, highlighting the role of CPD as a “backbone structure” for top-tier healthcare in our community. His focus on expert medical content and aspects like health system leadership, health advocacy, and personal wellness training aligns perfectly with HPA-OHT’s vision of comprehensive, integrated healthcare.

Dr. Narayan’s role as a physician lead at HPA-OHT is vital. The success of Ontario Health Teams hinges on physician-led, voluntary initiatives with primary care as the foundation. Physician involvement at all stages of OHT development ensures that their insights shape Ontario’s healthcare future. Dr. Narayan’s achievements and leadership exemplify this ethos, significantly contributing to advancing integrated healthcare here in Huron Perth & Area.

On behalf of HPA-OHT, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Narayan. His dedication to medical education and professional development elevates our region’s healthcare standards and sets a shining example for future medical professionals.

An accolade rightfully earned, Dr. Narayan; your accomplishments are a beacon of inspiration for us all.
