About Course

This foundational course is the first step in Huron Perth & Area Ontario Health Team’s (HPA-OHT) multi-year Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism (EIDA-R) Education Campaign. Designed for healthcare professionals, leaders, and stakeholders across 46 member organizations, this program aims to create a shared understanding and commitment to fostering inclusivity and addressing systemic barriers within the healthcare system.

Through engaging lessons, interactive webinars, and evidence-based resources, participants will explore key EIDA-R principles, including cultural safety, anti-racism practices, and strategies for supporting diverse communities. Each phase of the course introduces practical tools and actionable insights to promote a culture of equity, safety, and collaboration.

Course Content

Phase 1: Introduction to EIDA-R Principles
Timeline: January – February Objective: To provide foundational knowledge of Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-Racism (EIDA-R) principles and introduce the HPA-OHT Education Campaign and Ontario Health’s Equity Framework.

  • Module 4: Introduction to Ontario Health’s Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-Racism Framework

Phase 2: Introduction to the Active Offer of French Language Health Services
Timeline: March – April By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to: Understand the concept and importance of the Active Offer in providing French language health services. Recognize how this initiative aligns with Ontario Health’s Health Equity Framework. Prepare for the third-party training by reviewing its goals and expectations.

Phase 3: Addressing Anti-Black Racism in Healthcare
Timeline: May - June Activities: Complete the "Introduction to Anti-Black Racism eLearning Module." Reflect on organizational practices and identify potential areas of systemic bias. Collaborate in small groups to draft actionable steps to integrate anti-racist practices. Resources: Ontario Health Equity Framework. TAHSN Guiding Principles for implementing anti-racism education. Case studies and recorded testimonials from healthcare practitioners. Timeline: July – August By the end of this phase, learners will be able to: Understand the foundational concepts of gender diversity and 2SLGBTQIA+ health. Recognize the importance of creating inclusive, affirming, and accessible care environments. Prepare for third-party training by reviewing its objectives and aligning the learnings with Ontario Health’s Health Equity Framework.

Phase 5: Indigenous Cultural Awareness and Safety

Phase 6: Outcomes and Celebration
Timeline: November – December Objective: Assess progress, celebrate achievements, and outline goals for the next year. Activities: Submit a progress report summarizing key learnings and organizational impact. Participate in a celebration event to recognize milestones. Feedback survey to inform Year 2 curriculum design. Deliverables: Certificate of Completion for participants meeting Year 1 requirements. Organizational readiness report for advancing EIDA-R goals.
