Why it Matters
Free elder law services are expanding for seniors and community organizations in Huron Perth & Area through Ontario’s legal aid clinic system, made possible by new funding from the Law Foundation of Ontario. This expansion strengthens community-based supports and improves access to timely, trusted legal information and advice for older adults and those who support them.
Addressing legal issues earlier, such as decision-making, future planning, and care transitions, can help reduce system pressures that delay timely care for older adults and their families.
Dig Deeper
This expansion is supported through a partnership between the Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic and the Grey-Bruce Community Legal Clinic. Grey Bruce Legal Clinic lawyer Angela Yenssen will support the Huron Perth Legal Clinic staff to expand elder law services in Huron Perth & Area at no cost to clients or organizations.
Available services include:
- Education sessions for seniors, caregivers, the public, and professionals working with older adults. Topics may include protection from harm, financial issues, care issues, and other elder law matters; sessions can be tailored to community or organizational needs.
- Case consultations for staff supporting seniors with legal issues.
- Brief legal advice for seniors and their caregivers regardless of their income
- Direct legal services for eligible seniors with low income, including the preparation of wills and powers of attorney.
